Danielle Pieranunzi is the SITES Director at Green Business Certification Inc / U.S. Green Building Council leading strategic product management and the evolution of SITES in addition to supporting technical solutions, market development, education, and outreach for the program. She has been working on the Sustainable SITES Initiative since 2006 collaborating with a diverse group of practitioners, scientists, educators, and policymakers to research and develop guidelines and metrics and define a rating system for high-performance landscapes and infrastructure. Her work focuses on advancing nature-positive outcomes in the built environment—supporting resilience, biodiversity, decarbonization, resource conservation, public health, and community well-being. Danielle is committed to ensuring that nature has a voice at the table, that advocates are heard and leaders recognized, and that ecosystem services and nature-based solutions are better understood and valued as an essential component of the built environment. Danielle is also a SITES AP, LEED AP, and Honorary ASLA member.
