Thomas Tamayo Young holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from Rutgers University's School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, where his thesis, exploring the atomic age's impact on the landscape, earned an NJSLA award. As a former instructor and teaching assistant in the Department of Landscape Architecture, Thomas taught digital drafting and design courses and has spoken extensively on topics like storytelling in the landscape at institutions including Rutgers University and the University of Wisconsin.
Recognized as a 2017 Olmsted Scholar, Thomas has contributed to urban and restoration ecology projects, with a strong focus on native plant communities and database-driven design. His work blends GIS mapping, native planting, and ecological design principles, earning additional accolades such as the NJSLA award for Wonderland and You, an immersive theater production at Rutgers Gardens. Passionate about advancing ecological restoration through creative and data-driven approaches, Thomas continues to engage in innovative design and education.
