Kat graduated with her master's degree in environmental science from the University of Utah in 2021. Prior to joining Salt Lake City as a Public Lands Planner, she worked as a director of community engagement for a local land trust. Through these professional experiences, she has gained an understanding for land use and conservation, natural ecosystems and habitat restoration, systems planning and sustainable design of public spaces. Kat currently works on strategic and long-range planning efforts for public spaces in Salt Lake City, as well as assisting on future SITES-certified projects, including Glendale Park and Pioneer Park. Her favorite part of the work she does with Salt Lake City is integrating native, waterwise plantings and pollinator habitat into public landscapes, and creating restorative, natural spaces in urban parks.
