JoAnn Trach Tongson, PLA, LEED AP BD+C, SITES AP, joined AMT Engineering having worked at a diverse range of multi-disciplinary and landscape architectural firms following graduation from the Pennsylvania State University with Distinction. She brings over 30 years of experience in landscape architecture, planning, community facilitation, and site design to design and sustain places for diverse ecologic systems. JoAnn leads teams for k-12 education, higher education, residential, parks & recreational, streetscape, transportation and institutional projects. She has worked on notable green projects including Green Tracks and Purple Line for the Maryland Transit Administration. JoAnn has previously presented at Greenbuild, SCUP Mid-Atlantic in 2010 and Sustainable Exterior Design: Integrating LEED & Regulatory Mandates at the Chesapeake Green Expo, 2009.
JoAnn has served on the Board of Directors for USGBC Maryland; and is an active member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, ASCE Baltimore and the Women’s Transportation Seminar. She has reviewed Greenbuild presentations from 2013 to 2020 and has presented at Greenbuild 2015. She has also reviewed for the Green Schools Summit 2019 and 2020. She also supports local community groups as President and Open Space Chair for the Mayfield Improvement Association, Board member for the Harford Road Community Review Panel, and Board member for the Friends of Clifton Park. JoAnn brings her passion for exterior spaces and empowering communities through greening initiatives, grant writing and teaching gardening at University of Md Baltimore County in 2011, 2012, and 2014. Contributions to publications include Chesapeake Home and MDASLA Embark. JoAnn expanded her Traveler’s Fund Award in Portland, Oregon and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania enrich local Green Infrastructure practices.
