Sohyun Park is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture at University of Connecticut. Prior to joining UConn, she worked at the Department of Landscape Architecture at Texas Tech University. She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Design and Planning from Arizona State University, a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from Seoul National University and a B.S. in Biology from Sookmyung Women’s University in Korea. She teaches Community Planning, Planting Design, and Environmental Planning and Landscape Design at UConn. At TTU, she taught Environmental Planning for Sustainable Development, Urban Design, Regional Planning and Design, and other undergraduate and graduate courses with an emphasis on ecological health and sustainability. She provides guest lectures for various institutions with environmental topics including landscape ecology, urban sustainability and resilience, and the Sustainable SITES initiative program. Dr. Park serves as Co-Chair of USDA NIFA NE 1962 National Multi-State Research Group, Co-Track Chair of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) Sustainability Track, and Co-Chair of American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Ecology and Restoration Professional Practice Network (PPN). She is the Lead PI on couple of projects funded by the U.S. National Park Service and USDA NIFA (National Institute of Food and Agriculture). Dr. Park earned her SITES AP credential in May 2018 as the 17th SITES Professional in the state of Texas. She is devoted to the promotion of urban ecosystem services in cities and landscapes through her scholarship, professional outreach, and education.
